What Is Test Mode?
Test Mode allows you to enter your website or app, trigger events, see them pop up as toasts on your website, and then view them in your Recent Events list—all without sending test data to your destinations.
It lets you simulate events without dispatching them to external systems, making it the perfect tool for securely debugging and validating your configuration. Whether you’re integrating new destinations, troubleshooting errors, or double-checking your setup, Test Mode has you covered.
Ways to Access Test Mode
Code-Free Testing: Enter Your URL in the Dashboard
As long as Ours is set up on your site, you can launch Test Mode directly from the dashboard:
Navigate to the Test Web Install section.
Enter your website or app's URL.
Submit the form to simulate events.
You’ll see a toast message on your screen confirming event capture.
Script-Based Testing: Install the Test Mode Script
Have engineering teams working in local or dev environments? Implement our Test Mode token and use the server-to-server API with a dedicated test token. Events triggered with this token stay entirely within your testing environment.
How Test Mode Works
When you enable Test Mode, events follow these rules:
Event Storage: All events are stored in Ours and visible in your Recent Events list.
No Dispatch: Events are processed but not sent to external systems.
Visual Indicators: Test events are tagged with "Test" to make it easy to differentiate test data from live data.
Getting Started
Navigate to your dashboard and choose the Test Mode setup that suits you—code-free or script-based.
Trigger events and monitor them in the Recent Events view.
Confidently switch to a live token when ready.
